“Consider Abraham: ‘He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.’ Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham. The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel (Jesus Christ) in advance to Abraham: ‘All nations will be blessed through you.’ So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.” Galatians 3:6-9 (NIV) Nuggets of Truth: Righteousness is simply faithfully believing God like Abraham! To receive the blessings of God, a person must have faith in God. “If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Galatians 3:29 (NIV) Nuggets of Truth: All people who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord are the heirs of the promise included by Abraham’s seed. All beloved are descendants of Abraham! Believers are the heirs of the promise/covenant given by the Lord God Almighty to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob or Israel. “And Abraham said to God, ‘If only Ishmael might live under your blessings!’ Then God said, ‘Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him. And as for Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him; I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers. He will be the father of twelve rulers, and I will make him into a great nation. But my covenant/promise I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear next year.’” Genesis 17:18-21 (NIV) Nuggets of Truth: God informed Abraham of the future! Only God knows the future! Are you like Sarah who took matters into her own hands and gave Abraham her maid, Hagar instead of waiting on God’s Plan? God has given every person a free will and He allows us to storm ahead by our own will instead of by His will, but He also allows the consequences of our interference to affect our lives. Because of Sarah’s insistence and interference, Hagar’s son, Ishmael, was born. Muhammad, the founder of the Muslim people and Islamic faith, came from Ishmael’s family tree. God predicted tension between the offspring of Ishmael and Isaac. We see that conflict raging even today with strife between the Muslims and Jews. There’s a challenge looming before every person who will ever live: Will you accept or interfere with God’s Plan? Beloved, choose to wait for God to act and choose not to take the reins into your own hands because you think God is not acting quickly enough. Are you a person who creates a mess and then blames someone else for the mess? Sarah caused a lifelong mess affecting future generations and then blamed Abraham for the lifelong mess she caused!
